I am really better from the break down I had yesterday. Let's talk about it any more.
So I have a VERY IMPORTANT thing to post about....
An application came today for me, whether I would like to become an organ donor or not. I'm seriously thinking about it. But can't decided quite yet.
Has someone of you applied? And if not,
Would you become an organ donor?
I mean only greatness could come from such an action right? And it is very likely that you can save someone's life if your organs are good for donation. How beautiful could that be?
But it's creeping the hell out of me. Seriously.
Well you don't exactly need your organs when you're death, so I am an organ donor... If you don't use it and you can save someone with it why not?
ReplyDeleteI have not got a organ donor card but I would Definitely sign up for one!!
ReplyDeleteI got my driver's license when I was 21 and agreed to be one. There are so many with needs and Nele is right. You can't take the organs with you.
ReplyDeleteI'm an organ donor on my license! I'm also registered with bethematch.com, which is a worldwide bank for bone marrow donation. My religious values don't require me to keep all my body parts, so may as well save some people, right? My friend was an organ donor and died, and he saved 23 people. Can you imagine? :)
ReplyDeleteWhy wouldn't you register to be an organ donor? They only take what you've signed up to give if you're already dead.
ReplyDeleteIt's more a case of, do you want your viable organs going to waste or not?
I have my card at the front of my wallet where my ID would be so that if something like an accident happened and they checked to see who I was, they'd see the card straight away and then they could get on with the transplants asap, because there's something like a 4-8hour gap of when they can use them and that's it, they can't store them, they have to helicopter them into hospitals n all if they've found a donor.
I just don't get why it's even an issue for anyone, you will be dead, you can just have a closed casket funeral if you donated your corneas.
It isn;'t of any loss to you, but it's a loss to all those people who could use your so many parts of your body, you can give an amputee the chance to have a hand again, it's been done, you could give some sight, a skin graph from horrendous burns, or just life from your pancreas, lungs, heart etc etc
To deny it on religion is stupid. If religion is all about giving and loving and sacrifice, why keep it to yourself when you've no use?
Wow. That's such a lovely thing! I'm not sure if I am or not, but I really do think it's a great idea. You would save lives, like..a lasting legacy. Let us know what you choose!
ReplyDelete<3
when I first read your post about donating organs I figured you have to give a part of your body while your alive and that is effing creepy! i think id only do that for my family.
ReplyDeletebut saving lives after youve lost yours is a noble circuit of biomaterial. :) go for it!
I'm a blood donor and had plans to become an organ donor, but my father doesn't want me to. He thinks and my mom too that if a bad accident happens and they see I am an organ donor they will not try as hard to save me if that makes sense. I see where theyre coming from so I'm waiting until I move out.
ReplyDeleteI'm a HUGE supporter of blood and organ donation (: just so ya know (:
I know this is a bit after the fact but I thought I'd chip in on this one....
ReplyDeleteI'm an organ donor. Because the ONLY good thing about my mothers death is that others could benefit from it because she was a donor. If you could donate it has the potential to help others, go on!
